New Years Eve 1978 Lido #Can #Can #Dancers Good Old Days
A bit of nostalgia of special interest to our UK members - The Good Old Days New Year's Eve show from 1978. A repost.
The dancers are called The Lido Can Can Girls, and the choreographer is
Doreen Hermitage. Penny Rigden is mentioned in the credits too.
The cancan starts at about 3:00.

French Cancan Movie Poster
By Doalfe65 at DeviantArt
https://www.deviantart.com/doalfe65/art/French-Cancan-Movie-Poster-1255338929
" Gif I created with AI of a still image from from the 1955 film "French Can Can" directed by Jean Renoir, captured in a high-energy can-can dance pose with her left leg extended straight upward in a dramatic kick, right leg grounded firmly, arms flung outward gracefully with white ruffled gloves, body arched dynamically to the side, smiling exuberantly with head thrown back slightly. She has fair skin, short dark brown bob haircut under a large white feathered headdress with flowing plumes. Her costume is a classic can-can ensemble: a low-cut white off-shoulder blouse with puffed sleeves and lace ruffles, a voluminous white petticoat skirt with multiple layers of frilled white tulle and lace flaring out explosively, black sheer stockings with garters, black high-heeled ankle boots. Surrounding her are supporting figures in a lively Montmartre street scene: on the left, shadowy silhouettes of dancing couples in period attire against a dark windmill backdrop; on the right, a group of elegantly dressed women in flowing gowns and a dapper man in a suit with hat and cane smiling; in the foreground, a mustachioed man in a gray suit and fedora holding a cigar, gesturing admiringly. The background is a warm terracotta orange gradient with art deco text overlays like "French Can Can" in bold black and yellow lettering, credits for Jean Gabin, Françoise Arnoul, Maria Félix in white script at the bottom, evoking 19th-century Parisian cabaret energy with high-contrast lighting highlighting the skirt's volume and feather textures."
Very nice.

AI Cancan Dancers
Given the proliferation of AI art, you'd think there would be a lot of AI cancan images. To date there haven't been very many at all. This is a particularly nice one by Gordon2024 at DeviantArt.

"Dangerous Tour"
MGM Musical ala Soviet Union
Posted because of rarity. Split skirts and biker pants.
cancan from 34:01 to 36:00
"The film takes place in Odessa in 1910, when, on assignment from the RSDLP Foreign Bureau, a prominent Bolshevik underground activist arrives in the city disguised as a French timber merchant. He is tasked with organizing the delivery of illegal literature to Russia through the Odessa port. The mission is successfully completed. A variety theater was founded in Odessa, which, having gained fame, toured Russia and received "theatrical props" from France... "Dangerous Tour" is a Soviet heroic adventure musical film directed by Georgy Yungvald-Khilkevich, based on a screenplay by Mikhail Melkumov, as described by Alexandra Kollontai in her diaries, at the Odessa Film Studio in 1969."
