Club CCD 2: March 2026

Welcome

Greetings and welcome to CLUB CCD 2! This is a continuation of Club CCD (https://clubccd.blogspot.com/), which has reached capacity for new photos, but which is still active. Please make all new posts here rather than at Club CCD. The main discussion site, where most people post, is CancanGroup.io (https://groups.io/g/CancanGroup). Please go there for daily text postings. These are sites for the discussion and appreciation of the Cancan in all its forms, from its genesis in Paris during La Belle Epoche, to its appearance in London, San Francisco and The Old West. Owned and operated by the online cancan community, CCD2 is open to everybody with a genuine interest in the World's Greatest Dance. Please note, however, that CCD2 is a G-Rated group, so please don't post anything objectionable. While the content of this site may be described as slightly 'risque,' this is not an adult community in any sense of the word, and anything deemed inappropriate will be deleted immediately.

COMPAGNIE AMAZONE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaH1m8bFWNU

An eye-opening start

" Un vent de fête et de folie s’est emparé de la scène du camping Mahana 💃🔥 La Compagnie Amazone vous embarque dans un show French Cancan haut en couleurs, rythmé, glamour et plein d’énergie ! Plumes, jupons et bonne humeur au rendez-vous pour un moment spectaculaire et inoubliable ✨🎶"

Not sure if it is the same group, but here is a post about them or their namesake:

Disneyland Nostalgia

Annette Funicello Performs at Disneyland (1962)

"In 1962, Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe Revue celebrated its 10,000th performance with a television special. The episode featured the revue’s main stars, Wally Boag and Betty Taylor, along with special guest appearances by comedian Ed Wynn and Mouseketeer Annette Funicello.

The milestone highlighted the show’s popularity at Disneyland, where the musical comedy revue had been entertaining guests since the park opened in 1955"

Young Sherlock

For classic style cancan fans, there's a new show on the Prime (Amazon) streaming service, in the US at least, called "Young Sherlock". Unusually for these days, it has a classically costumed cancan in Episode 6. The series is frenetic and over-the-top, but this episode is worth a watch, if you subscribe. You can even spot old Mr. Darcy in earlier episodes.

2001 Can Can

Delightful dance school performance recording from 2001. The video quality is about what you'd expect for the era, but it still is very cute.

Check out this interesting video posted at Tumblr blog, @frenchcancanfan. You'll understand reason for the title of this post at 1:25 of the video.

The blog is written in Japanese, and I was unable to determine the author, although it he may be our compatriot, Tom Isa. If so. thank you, Tom.
