Over 100 years ago, those who danced the cancan were shocked and swayed
by promiscuity, obscene poses and hands, aimed at destroying the minds,
souls, characters and moral principles of the spectators.
Today, the
cancan is an unknown part of the concert program of our academic
theater. Jubilees, benefits, shows cannot be complete without fiery
dancing! In many performances, both past and present, there are numbers
with cancan elements: “Beautiful Olena”, “Love and Fantasy”, “A Parisian
Life”, “Merry Widow”, “Without Blame”, “Maritsa”, “Princess of the
Circus”...
We believe that the upcoming musical “Cancan”, which we
will show for the first time on the stage of our theater, for the first
time in Odesa, for the first time in Ukraine, will be shown on the
20th, 21st, 26th and 27th centuries, only to enhance, ennoble and purify
the minds, souls, characters and moral principles of peepers.
